Jingle Bells and Needles
Each year I intend to knit Christmas gifts for family, and each year I procrastinate, wasting time and often not knitting even a single item. This year will be different. On my needles already is the “bunny girl in a dotty dress” by Julie Williams of Little Cotton Rabbits, and it is my intention to knit three of these.
Next on the list are the three Christmas Hooligans: Holly, Ivy and Steve by Rebecca Danger of Dangercrafts.
Bunny girl no. 1 is nearly complete. I have reservations about my choice of yarn of her body though. I ran out of my own naturally dyed yarn (in coffee) after knitting the head and her arms. So for her body I choose to use an onion-skin naturally dyed colour, while her legs are in the 10g skein of cashmere in “Autumn Mosaic” from the Nurturing Fibres Seasonal Sock Club.
As usual my project planning skills failed, and I need to visit the local yarn store to find the right 4 ply yarn for her shoes and dress. This brings bunny no. 1 to 4 different yarns, making her “The Bunny of Many Yarns”. I think I’ll name her Scheherazade. So progress has been stalled, in the mean time I will knit another duck and work on my “Little Nutbrown Hare” beanie which is desperately needing to be finished.
