Wow, is it near the end of February already and I haven’t written the obligatory well wishes for the new year? Let’s all pretend for a moment that it is the morning of the 1st of January 2015, we have all had a marvellous time the night before and now we’re all settling down in front of our computers and lo and behold a freshly pressed blog post by yours truly. I hope 2015 is going to be one great year. It is shaping up to be one heck of an amazing year for me. Time machine wooshes us back to the correct time and date of the 20th February.
This year has already been quite eventful, we have started Alice at a small pre-school here in town. It is tiny with about 7 children and an amazing teacher. She is the youngest, being a few months short of her 3rd birthday, but boy has this been the best thing for her. Her vocabulary alone has tripled in size, she practically potty trained herself amongst other things. Besides the one day some one neglected to close the gate of the school correctly and she took herself off for a walk giving us all a heart attack, she has loved every minute of it.
So with her at school from 8:30 till 12:30 I now have a few hours where I can potter around and focus on the things I have been neglecting. My knitting being the main focus during this time. Organising myself a little better, I have put together goals I wish to accomplish for the month.
- Add a few rows to my Manu Cardigan
- Crochet Granny Squares for Alice’s blanket
- knit my February socks for the South African Ravelry groups Sock along
- knit, crochet or sew Gifts
- Crochet the Granny Square to Wear Top
- Organise, photograph and bust some stash
As of this evening I have completed two of these goals. I crocheted Alice a cute short-sleeved pullover. The pattern is called: Granny Square to Wear. Using what I had in stash, I used Creative Fibres Hand Dyed 100% Pure New Zealand Wool, a 10ply worsted yarn. I received the yarn in a swop a few years ago never quite finding a pattern for it.
At the beginning of January I spent hours sifting through and sorting out my Stash, I sat outside in the sun photographing everything and uploaded to my Ravelry Stash page. Yesterday I spent a few hours updating, tagging and reorganising the stash again. You will be seeing a lot more projects taken from my stash this year. 2015 is the year of the stash down.
Sally and Sally (Wooldiaries and Pinkhairgirl on Ravelry) have instigated a Sock along on the South African Ravelry group, the plan is to knit one pair of socks a month, every month. Sadly January didn’t happen for me but my February Socks are coming along fast. The first sock is finished and my second sock is half way completed. I expect I will have finished by the end of this weekend. So while I might not complete all my goals for this month I am pleased with my progress so far.
